Your base on 17th Street

Things to do in Ocean City MD, on foot and a short drive

17th Street puts you steps from the bay and a short walk from the beach, the boardwalk, mini golf, restaurants and bars. Bring bikes; you won't need the car much.

One driveway spot (two cars fit, tightly) and plenty of free street parking around the condos, except on the busiest downtown weekends (Fourth of July, the White Marlin Open, the air show and festival weekends), when street spots fill up fast.

Walk there

  • The beach. Sand and surf a short walk east.
  • The boardwalk. Food, games and rides along the oceanfront.
  • Mini golf, restaurants and bars. Plenty within walking distance of 17th Street.
  • The bay. Right outside. Watch the sun go down over the water.

A short drive

  • West Ocean City (10 to 15 min). Grocery stores, outlet shopping, restaurants and fine dining, plus the commercial fishing harbor for charters, boat and kayak launches. A Walmart sits just beyond it for last-minute needs.
  • Assateague Island (25 to 30 min). Wild horses, quiet beaches and trails. Give the horses plenty of room and never feed them.

Getting around

  • Bikes. Bring them. The first-floor laundry room has space to store them.
  • Bus and rideshare. Ocean City has an affordable bus system and plenty of Uber drivers if you'd rather leave the car parked.
  • Summer traffic. It gets heavy in season, one more reason to walk.
